Just Dance! Sets Sights on The Dance Awards

Just Dance!, the competition company based at Charleston Dance Center, is stepping up its game for the 2017-18 season.

For the first time, Just Dance! plans to compete at The Dance Awards in Orlando, a prestigious national event combining some of the best talent and faculty in the nation. The Dance Awards is a Break The Floor event, which combines Jump, Nuvo and 24seven regional competitions.

“We are excited to show off our dancer’s great technique and training,” explain Buffi Wade and Lindsey Gentry, co-directors of Just Dance! “We know they are ready to compete at this level and it is a great step for our studio. We will be encouraging a strong focus on creating some of the best group dances we’ve ever had!”

Preparing for Convention

jump-blogThe companies will attend regional events for all three Break The Floor collaborators. The first is in November 2017 and the goal is to give dancers a taste of the event, faculty and procedures before the competition season kicks into high gear. All three regional competitions include convention components, so dancers will participate in more conventions than in years past.

“Each Break The Floor event is very different and we want our dancers to be able to see all of them so they are fully prepared going into the national event. The judges at these competitions will be very tough and we need our dancers to understand that.”

New this year, hip hop and contemporary classes are part of the requirements for our youngest company members ensuring they are training in all genres of dance and prepared for an intense convention year.
