WHO WE ARE

A Nationally Awarded Competitive Dance Team

Our dancers, age 5 to 18, compete across the country at regional and national competitions and conventions. This is the highest level of training, performing, and competing offered at Charleston Dance Center and among the highest of dance companies in Charleston.

Our Dance Teams: Minis, Petites, Juniors, and Seniors

Through an Audition process, Just Dancers have earned their spots on the prestigious competition team.

Company dancer requirements are specific to their level placement for the season. Requirements increase with the dancer’s age and ability levels. Currently, we have four Just Dance! Company Teams:

Mini Team

Mini team dancers are typically 6 to 10 years old, with an average age of 8. Placement considers age, but also height, ability, maturity, and team composition.

Petite Team

The Just Dance! Petite Company, selected by audition, averages 10 years old, with dancers typically 8-12. Placement considers age, height, ability, maturity, and team composition.

Junior Team

The Just Dance! Junior Company, selected by audition, averages 12 years old, with dancers typically 10-14. Placement considers age, height, ability, maturity, and team composition.

Senior Team

The Just Dance! Senior Company, selected by audition, averages 14 years old, with dancers typically 13-17. Placement considers age, height, ability, maturity, and team composition.

Just Dance! Company Team Requirements & Expectations

Competitive dance requires the highest level of commitment from both the dancer and the parent, so company dancers may have to choose dance as a priority over other extracurricular activities.

Just Dance! company members are not allowed to enroll in dance classes at any other studio or participate in dance events outside of school and Charleston Dance Center without permission from Just Dance! Company directors.

Mini Team

• Mini Company Rehearsal
• Jazz I
• Tap I
• 3 Ballet Classes per week
• Hip Hop I
• Contemporary I
• Conditioning I/II
• Optional: Ballet I/II, Tumbling, Christmas Show, & Pom

• Participation in all required competitions/conventions (typically Just Dance! attends 3 competition/conventions and 1 competition plus nationals)
• Participation in all rehearsals (typically held on the weekends)
• Participation in all dress rehearsals (typically held the weekend before each competition)
• Participation in any master classes that are scheduled
• Participation in summer intensives
• Participation in the annual Year-End Performance
• Purchasing required mini company makeup
• Purchasing required costumes, shoes and accessories

• Competition Cost: approximately $1,831/yr. for one group competition dance + $500 for each additional group competition dance.
(this number represents approximate fees that are paid to Just Dance! and does NOT include travel for events. Duos/Trios and solos require a larger investment.)

Opportunities for Growth
Competitions and conventions are chosen to challenge our dancers, enhance their skills, and introduce them to other elite studios and dancers. Traveling primarily throughout the Southeast, Just Dance Company dancers have attended prestigious events such as The Dance Awards, National Dance Honors, and the NYCDA National Season Finals in New York City.

Year-Round Training
Charleston Dance Center offers a full schedule of dance classes to ensure dancers are ready to compete and perform at the highest level. Summer intensives are offered, along with master classes, and one-on-one instruction.
