Just Dance! Results: NYCDA Greenville 2022

Just Dance! Company had an incredible weekend at an event known for top talent and fierce competition.

We are absolutely thrilled for Lana and Leilah Baird who placed first and second overall in the senior solo competition. These sisters have been dancing with us for the past 12 years, and this was Lana’s last NYCDA dance regional event before she graduates in June.

Just Dance! was honored with the Mini/Junior Versatility Award. We earned two Critic’s Choice Awards: Hide and Seek, All That Jazz. These are the judge’s consensus of the three to four best dances at this regional event in each age group, not based on score, but on overall impression and impact.

One of our favorite parts about NYCDA are the opportunities that dancers have to continue their training outside the convention circuit. Savannah Rose and Leilah Baird (seniors) earned automatic acceptances to the Winter Contemporary Intensive held at the Julliard School. Lana also earned a $500 scholarship to attend Summer Study NYC at Steps on Broadway. Leilah Baird (senior) was the only dancer selected for a $500 scholarship to Ballet Hispanico ChoreoLab.

Several dancers also earned regional convention scholarships for excellence in a category: Brooklyn Cate Rea, Jaimi Ingram, and Blais Lingle (ballet) and Hayden Quick (tap).

Blais was also chosen by Andy Pellick as a Rising Star. This award acknowledges the dancer that demonstrates talent, potential, hard work, and a joyful attitude in class.

Through an audition process, the best dancers are honored as Outstanding Dancers. The following Just Dancers were finalists: Kensley LaCavera, Annalise Franklin, Caitlyn Burn, Emma Amman, Leilah Baird, Addison Adams, Sierra Coleman, Maggie Bednarczyk, Kassy Ladson, and Blakely Thrasher. From this group, the following dancers were chosen as runners-up:
