We are so excited to introduce Just Dance! KREW, a new hip hop performance team designed for dancers of all levels.
Under the direction of Taylor Zandi and Kyla White (both Charleston Dance Center instructors), this team will learn hip hop dances and perform in the Charleston area. It’s a great opportunity for dancers who just want to take a couple classes per week, but still have consistent opportunities to perform.
Tell Me More
Dancers will be required to take one hip hop class and one KREW rehearsal class weekly at Charleston Dance Center. It is recommended dancers take a second hip hop class as well. Plus you can add on from any of the other dance classes on our schedule — jazz, tap, contemporary, and more! Dancers will also be required to purchase one costume to be worn for all performances.
I’m In! Tell Me About Auditions
August 5th 2023
Auditions for JUST DANCE! KREW will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2023 at Charleston Dance Center, located at 1757 Savannah Hwy., Charleston, SC 29407. Audition cost is $15 per dancer (register online) and includes a KREW t-shirt.
Please contact us if you want to audition, but are unable to attend.
How Do Just Dance! KREW Auditions Work?
It is important that dancers take the audition seriously, but it should not be a stressful experience. It is a closed audition and parents are not allowed to watch.
Each dancer is assigned a number and a group. Charleston Dance Center faculty will teach dancers a combo and give dancers an opportunity to practice. Dancers will audition in small groups in front of a panel of local judges who are not affiliated with Charleston Dance Center. No feedback is given.
When the dancers have completed their audition, they are free to leave. Younger dancers can use the studio phone to call a parent or they can wait in the studio lobby.
What Should Dancers Wear?
Most dancers will wear a baggy t-shirt, cropped shirt, or sports bra and pants (leggings or joggers). Please wear athletic shoes.
When Will Results Be Announced?
KREW directors will review the judge’s scores and feedback after auditions. Parents will receive an email as soon as decisions have been made, usually within one week.
