What to Wear & Bring

Dancers should wear dancewear they feel confident moving in. Clothing should be fitted enough for instructors to see alignment and movement — nothing overly baggy.

Please have:
• All dance shoes
• A water bottle
• Hair pulled away from the face
• No jewelry

Dancers do not need to prepare a solo or combination. Age-appropriate choreography will be taught during the audition.

Company vs. Collective Teams

Just Dance! offers multiple team options so dancers can find the right fit for their training goals, schedule, and commitment level.

Company dancers train approximately 4 days per week and attend both local and travel competitions/conventions.

Collective dancers train approximately 2 days per week and primarily attend local competitions and events, with optional opportunities to attend additional conventions with Company.

Both teams receive quality instruction, performance opportunities, and the same CDC support, the biggest difference is the weekly class commitment and competition schedule.

Audition FAQs

When dancers check in and receive their audition number, they will indicate which team they would like to be considered for.

Acceptance emails will be sent within the week following auditions.

Each team has a different summer requirement. These range from a weekend Bootcamp to a Monday through Friday intensive.

Yes, absolutely! Collective attends mainly competition-only events that are leveled. Company dancers will compete at the most advanced level, while Collective dancers compete in beginner or intermediate levels based on weekly class requirements.

No. Company events are not leveled, and we do not want our teams competing against each other. Our goal is to encourage happy, healthy competition and maintain a supportive team environment.

Absolutely. Please register for the audition and submit a video to info@charlestondancecenter.com. Acceptance letters will be sent the week of auditions.

After teams are selected, we will hold a mandatory parent meeting. Families will receive the season schedule and a fee breakdown based on the number of dances your dancer is eligible for. At that time, you can decide how many dances fit your budget.  Once all members submit their desired number of pieces by the date specified, we will start creating groups for the season.

Collective is likely the best fit for dancers who want to compete while balancing other activities or sports.

No. Dancers do not need to prepare anything ahead of time. We will teach an age-appropriate combination during the audition.

Your dancer’s acceptance letter will include next steps, important details, and any required follow-up information.

Both teams receive the same strong training and opportunities. Collective dancers typically take class 2 days per week and attend mainly local competitions. Company dancers typically take class 4 days per week and attend both local and travel events.

Yes, of course! Collective dancers may attend additional conventions with Company if they choose.

Yes! And those are some of our favorite events. We plan to participate in at least one full-team local event together.

Yes. Judges may see a better fit for your dancer and offer placement on a different team than originally requested. Please read your acceptance letter carefully before replying.

We do our best, but we cannot guarantee a specific number of dances. Creating groups is like building a giant puzzle- levels, ages, divisions, choreography needs, and competition balance all factor into final placement.
