Dancers Ages 9+ – You’re Invited!
Charleston Dance Center is thrilled to host Acting for Dancers, a two-day workshop presented by SMP Dance Company on March 15-16. This immersive experience is designed for dancers ages 9+ who want to elevate their artistry by exploring acting, improvisation, storytelling, and choreography.
What to Expect
Led by Sarah Marie Picard, an internationally recognized dancer, choreographer, and multi-disciplinary artist, this workshop will challenge dancers to tap into their creativity in new ways. Picard has been featured on hit TV shows like Once Upon a Time and So You Think You Can Dance and has worked with prestigious dance companies worldwide. Many of her students have gone on to train at Juilliard, NYU, USC, and Rambert School, later building successful careers in Broadway, film, and television.
Photographer, painter, dancer and choreographer Sarah Marie Picard is often referred to as a “Renaissance Woman.” As a Dancer and Choreographer, Ms Picard, has been featured on numerous hit shows, including ABC’s “Once Upon A Time” and Fox’s “So You Think You Can Dance.” She has extensively toured internationally with various leading dance companies. She is regularly requested to appear as a guest choreographer at world-renowned dance institutions such as STEPS and the Broadway Dance Center in New York City. Previous students of Ms. Picard’s have been accepted into iconic educational institutions such as The Juilliard School, NYU, Arts Umbrella, Rambert School, and USC and have gone on to work extensively in film and television, on Broadway, and in theatres around the world.
