A First Look at Season 27 at CDC – New Faculty Announced

While we’re still in the middle of an exciting Season 26, with our Year-End Performance just weeks away, we’re already looking ahead and building for what’s next.

At Charleston Dance Center, our focus has always been on strong training, consistent growth, and creating an environment where dancers feel both supported and challenged. As we begin preparing for Season 27, we’re excited to continue that commitment with new opportunities and an expanded faculty.

Welcoming Chelsea Taborn to CDC

We are excited to officially welcome Chelsea Taborn to the Charleston Dance Center faculty for the upcoming 26-27 season.

Chelsea is a Charleston, South Carolina–based dancer, choreographer, and experienced competition judge known for her supportive, growth-focused approach to training young artists. Originally from Virginia Beach, she grew up as a competitive dancer, giving her a strong understanding of the discipline, challenges, and excitement that come with the competition world. She continued her training in New York City at Marymount Manhattan College, Broadway Dance Center, and Steps on Broadway before completing her dance education at the College of Charleston.

With over a decade of teaching and choreography experience, Chelsea has helped dancers consistently achieve top overall placements, perfect scores, and choreography awards. She has also served as a judge across multiple competition platforms, where she is known for her fair, insightful critiques and encouraging feedback. Her dual perspective as both educator and adjudicator allows her to effectively prepare dancers for success while maintaining a positive and motivating environment.

Above all, Chelsea is a dedicated advocate for young artists. She is passionate about creating a space where dancers feel supported, challenged, and inspired to grow – not just as competitors, but as confident, expressive individuals. She finds her greatest joy in watching children develop their artistry over time, self confidence, building both strong technique and a genuine love for dance.

Looking Ahead to Season 27

Chelsea’s addition is just one part of what we’re building for the upcoming season.

As we look ahead, families can expect:
• A strong and experienced faculty
• Thoughtfully structured class offerings
• Continued focus on technique, artistry, and performance
• A positive, growth-focused environment for every dancer

We’re excited about what’s ahead—and we’re already getting started.
