From Just Dance! to New York City
Abby danced at our studio from preschool days all the way through graduation in 2018. She joined our competition team around 2008 and quickly became a beloved part of the Just Dance! family. After graduating, she made the move to her dream city—New York City—where she continues to balance a passion for helping others with a deep love for dance.
Abby earned her bachelor’s in Nutrition and Food Science at NYU, where she also choreographed and danced with Pulse Dance Project, forming connections that remain central to her life. She danced with Emily Greenwell’s company, Cloude, and even studied abroad her senior year in London, soaking up the UK dance scene.
After completing a Dietetic Internship through City University of NY (CUNY), Abby passed her Registered Dietitian exam and began working in eating disorder treatment at multiple levels of care. She currently supports clients through a virtual intensive outpatient program and a private practice, with the goal of eventually bridging her work in nutrition with the dance world she knows and loves.
Never one to slow down, Abby is back at NYU pursuing her Master’s in Mental Health Counseling while also finishing her Mat Pilates Instructor certification. She continues to train, teach, and perform in NYC’s vibrant dance scene—leading an open class with Pulse Dance Project this April and performing with the collective ABBONDANZA in July. She’s also turned her love of crochet into a creative side hustle, selling handmade pieces through her Instagram shop, @bugnbirdy.
Lessons from the Studio
Abby shared that her time at JD was “extremely formative.” She spent more time in the studio than anywhere else and credits the experience for shaping who she is today.
“I value the family I made there over anything else. I learned that showing respect and unconditional support for one another is what will always matter most.”
Advice for Future Dancers
“Being kind and an easy person to work with is more important than your skill level at the end of the day.”
A wise reminder that the strongest dancers aren’t just talented—they’re team players.
A Memory We’ll Never Forget
Abby has many memories from her years at JD, but one that stands out? “One time a mask that was part of my costume got run over by a car in the parking lot of the competition the day we were supposed to compete the dance.” (That’s showbiz, baby!)
We’re so proud of Abby and the life she’s building—one that blends her heart for people, her creative talents, and the discipline she learned through dance. Thank you for being part of our journey, Abby. We can’t wait to see what you do next!
